In the 1960's, scientists manufactured a hyper virus that modified a person's DNA to the point that they became more than just human, and are able to modify certain aspects of nature. Around 40 years later, in the year 2001, Lucas Hansen finds himself in the thick of a prejudice struggle between HV's and humans. After Lucas discovers that he is an HV himself, he meets a girl named Rachel who possesses a virus that can generate flames out of thin air. They are soon on the run from the authorities who are trying to kill them on government orders, all the while making their way to the safe haven of a mysterious city that Rachel is from.
