A muscle in his jaw contracted. For a moment, I thought he'd stay silent. Then, slowly, he exhaled.
"My name," he whispered, as if it were a secret, "is Lucian."

"Lucian," I said, the sound of it, the syllables heavier than they should be.
His eyes flickered, a shadow of a smile playing on his lips and opened like he wanted to say something but he didn't.
