Seventeen years ago, six friends walked into an abandoned mansion on the hill. Only five came back. It was supposed to be one last night before college - laughter, dares, and a candle burning in the attic. But when Debbie Cruz vanished, everything ended. The Dead Society was born - six names, one secret, and blood no one talks about. Now Mary Martha is back in Ridgewood - older, sharper, and carrying the ghosts she never buried. Everyone says to leave it alone. But every one of them had a reason to want Debbie gone. And as she digs deeper, more secrets unravel. Because in Ridgewood, monsters don't hide in the dark. They sit beside you. And sometimes... they look like you.

Hi my name is lacey, well that's not my real name. That's what people would call me.... If I knew anyone. The only contact I have with the human race was going to the stores, but no one was interested in my dirty clothes, or my ability to look like a hobo. I basically am anyways. And if anyone is interested enough to know my name, it's just me, Lacey. That's the name one the police officers gave me, to help me after what had happened. He is the only one that knows about my case, everyone else I have to be careful about. So I guess I do know someone but not the kind of person that 17-year-old girls should know. My old name and life was left behind when my mother was. Dead, in the house, because of him. It's a really long story.
