African Rebirth (Rewriting)

When Eric Dumas, a brilliant African-American university student, is killed in a tragic campus shooting, he awakens to find himself in an unfamiliar world, the bustling 15th-century Susú city of Kakandé. Now the sixteen-year-old son of the city's ruler, Eric carries with him the full weight of his modern knowledge.

His reforms draw the attention of suspicious Islamic clerics, coastal merchants, and the distant Papacy, all of whom see the boy-prince's ambitions as a dangerous disruption to the natural order. As trade routes shift and European sails appear on the horizon, Eric must navigate the clash of faiths, empires, and his own people's traditions.
