Velvet Dusk

I bolted straight into the forest.

There was no path, only the rush of adrenaline coursing through me as branches whipped past and leaves crunched under my feet.

I had no idea how long I'd been running, but the sun was already dipping below the horizon, casting long orange shadows through the trees around me.

My legs burned, every step sending a sting through my torn socks..

Still, the question lingered in my mind will I be free? Deep down, I knew he was near. Waiting. Tracking my every move... just waiting for me to give up.
