Unbeknown to the residents in The City of Lotus, a city that loaves the very thought of pheromones, tensions grow on the outside with neighboring countries. Though he has a high rank, information passed down to the Colonel is sparse and inconsistent. 

When there is an unexpected breach into the city, Colonel Ed's forces are first to respond. In a strange turn of events, Colonel Ed, trying to save one of his recruits, and many other officers get taken hostage from the city. Yet, somehow, only the Colonel is spared from the mysterious exploding hearts of the other captives and gets shoved into an unfamiliar and infinitely larger world.
