In the annals of Targaryen history, much is written of the Dance of the Dragons - a war of fire and blood that split House Targaryen against itself and plunged the realm into ruin. The chronicles speak of Rhaenyra Targaryen, the Realm's Delight, who claimed her father's throne, and of Queen Alicent Hightower, who raised her sons to challenge her. They speak of Prince Daemon, the Rogue Prince, whose hunger for power set kingdoms ablaze, and of dragons turning against dragons until the skies themselves were red with flame. Yet, what the histories do not tell - or choose to forget - is that Rhaenyra was not alone in her cradle. Born within minutes of her was her twin, Princess Vaenya Targaryen. If Rhaenyra was fire, Vaenya was moonlight; if Rhaenyra commanded, Vaenya soothed. Loved by the lords of the realm and cherished by the smallfolk, she became known as the Realm's Sweetheart, a gentle dragon whose very presence could still tempests. It was said that her smile could quiet feuding lords, and that even Queen Alicent - so oft at odds with Rhaenyra - found in Vaenya a sister of the heart. But the closer she drew to Alicent, the more precarious the balance became, for love has its own kind of power, and the affections of the people are no small prize in a realm built on loyalty and fear. And then there was Daemon Targaryen. What if the Rogue Prince were bound to the Realm's Sweetheart? What then would become of thrones, crowns, and dragons? This is their tale: of two sisters, alike in blood but different in heart. Of love that crossed lines of duty. Of friendships that could have healed wounds or deepened them. And of the choices that might have changed the fate of Westeros forever. For history is not written only by those who won, but by those who survived. And in the shadows of the Dance of the Dragons lies a story untold - until now.

"The dream...it was clearer than a memory. And I heard the sound of thundering hooves, splintering shields and ringing swords. And I placed my heir upon the Iron Throne, and all the dragons roared as one." ~ King Viserys Targaryen "If I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all. But when I say 'I love you', it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. I've seen your kindness and your strength. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Alicent. ~ Geralt Targaryen "Brother, if you're named heir and I your Princess Consort, your claim would not be so easily challenged. The Velaryons are of the sea. But you and I are made of fire We have always been meant to burn together." ~ Rheanyra Targaryen "Where is duty? Where is sacrifice? It's trampled under your pretty foot again." ~ Alicent Hightower "We are Bene Vesserit. We don't Hope. We plan" ~ Nimueh Gaius. THE DRAGON'S HEART IS MINE explores the lives of two best friends torn apart by the men they love and the political forces that shape their destinies. Set against the backdrop of the Greens and the Blacks, the story delves into the civil war that divides Westeros, a war ignited by two siblings grappling with marriage, love, and ambition. Their shared history lies at the heart of the Targaryen dynasty and forms the foundation of House of the Dragon. King Viserys' decision to marry Geralt to Alicent Hightower and Prince Daemon's forbidden attraction to Princess Rhaenyra serve as the catalysts for the events that forever alter their lives. Each character's understanding of marriage and love varies greatly, creating a ripple effect of choices and consequences. These differences ultimately lead to the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, leaving a lasting and unforgettable mark on Westeros. Lewa_K ©2024
