The year is 2027 and the world is at war once again. The United States has fractured under the weight of civil conflict: chaplain-generals and their Inquisition-backed government burn Oracles as witches, Wall Street riots consume the east, Cascadian guerrillas wage war in the forests of the northwest, and California declares itself an independent republic.

In Havana, Commodore Mariela Morozova, the Cuban Oracle raised as a prophet-general, sails north with her revolutionary fleet, preaching a mission of peace while unraveling America's defenses with prophecy and spectacle.
In Manhattan, an Oracle crowns herself over the ruins, building a city-state from chaos. And in Washington State, Elowen, once the Oracle of Fairfield, hides in exile. She hands out bread, heals the wounded, and begs not to be made a leader, but crowds gather anyway, whispering that she is the one hope against the Inquisition's fire.
