Amanda O'Flannery used to be a popular until her family died - first her father, then her brother, and finally her sister. Her step-father was close to both her brother and sister before they died. Their deaths sent him over the edge and both he and her mother went straight to alcohol.
One night she tries to stop him and the next day there are rumours all over the school that she was raped by her step-father. Her friends either turned to bullies or slowly left her alone. Her boyfriend stuck with her through all this and he starts being bullied. She breaks up with him and everything goes back to normal, kind of.
Fast forward a few months and a new kid starts, instantly taking a like to Amanda. He somehow gets her to get back the friends that she pushed away and her boyfriend that she broke up with. They are not friends for long when Amanda's parents have been kidnapped. Together they have to do the impossible and get them back, and deal with even more drama than that.
