Hanagatami Academy for Proficient Ultimates was supposed to be a dream come true, a place where the world's most talented students could hone their skills. Yugen Kageyama, the Ultimate Dream Interpreter is locked in the Academy with 15 other classmates along himself, under the control of a psychotic robot swan known as Monohaku.
Forced into a deadly killing game, Yugen must decipher who to trust before it's too late. Can he hold onto hope, or will he succumb to despair? Will he find a way to escape this hellhole just to save everyone, or will he risk everything to escape only himself?

This is a fanfiction I wrote for the series but set in an AU with my own plot and this is a rewrite from previous version.) I thought... that this academy would help me. Help me trust others. Help me get a better hold of my future. Maybe find love. But no... now I'm stuck here... and we have to... we have to... I gagged. Thinking about it just makes me sick. My hands were trembling. I could feel tears falling down my cheeks. My face was getting hotter by the second. "I wanna go home..." I whispered. I silently weeped into my hands. Of all people, why me? Why did I have to be... in a... killing game? (Authors note: Yes, this is a Fanganronpa. But it is not connected to the Danganronpa series. So no, there will not be another "Junko Enoshima" or a reference to "The biggest, most awful, most tragic event in human history". Also, there will be no Hopes Peak Academy. This project will only have specific details from the original that I like. For example... MoNoKuMa. Maybe. You'll have to wait and see. Anyway, see you guys in the story!) Thousands of years after the Tragedy, humanity had rebuilt itself. There were still Japanese tales and legends of the alleged killing games; some believed them, some did not. Ultimate students who attended high schools and colleges were about the only thing that stayed constant throughout time. Needless to say, life moved on without a second thought because the people who experienced the despair were long gone now. But when Masaru Yamaguchi, a new college student, wakes up in a closed off school knowing only his name and talent, everything changes. It seems someone has taken the role of bringing the killing games back to life and now Masaru has to figure out who and why.
