Lifeless eyes from the figure stare out into the forest surrounding the river. Head lulled to the side like a standing corpse. Vacantly staring into the abyss of darkness casted by the evergreen trees, eyes just barely able to pick out the glint of orange deep within the maze of wilderness. Gloved hands flex as they tighten their grip around the splintered handle of a dull hatchet. The popping of the joints in their neck rings out into the crisp air, as it twitches and tics every so often.

The figure bathed in moonlight shifts, head held up straighter as they inhaled the clean air of the wild. They sway before taking a step down stream, breaking their gaze from the man in the woods as they follow where the river leads them.

The moon is full in the sky, illuminating the tops of evergreen trees like snow. The moon grants its grace of light down onto the river, leaving those within the woods consumed by the night.
