When Valeria leaves for Michigan Tech University-still dating her sweet, longtime boyfriend but separating from the only life she's ever known. She believes distance will bring independence and growth. Instead, the isolation of Michigan's Upper Peninsula exposes everything she's tried to bury: her past, her fear, and the parts of herself that never healed.

As an environmental engineering student, Valeria is trained to observe ecosystems, patterns, and damage. What she isn't prepared for is how quickly human behavior can rot.

During her first weekend on campus, she befriends two women who are as magnetic as they are reckless. By the end of that weekend, someone is dead.

What begins as a single, unthinkable act spirals into a web of lies, secrets, and violence as the girls fight to keep the truth buried. As more bodies surface and suspicion tightens, Valeria finds herself torn between the boy who knows the deepest parts of her soul and the man who ignites her strength-even as he watches her change into something dangerous.
