Sasina Sethratanapong is an 18‑year‐old heiress from one of Chiang Mai's old rich clans. When she learns that she is being forced to marry Kit-her childhood friend, in a union she does not want-she runs away from her family. She flees to Khon Kaen and adopts a new identity: Ayla Ruengkhunakhon.

The night Ayla arrives in Khon Kaen, she is rescued by Tawan and Khatou from two drunken men. Learning that Ayla has nowhere to stay, Khatou takes her home.
