Iris Evangeline Moreau lives quietly in Vale-Wood, Connecticut, her shy demeanor hiding a curious spirit yearning for more. Since eighth grade, her trust is placed with Anastasia Elodie Lowehart, whose presence is her safe space from a rocky home life-what would Iris do without her? Meanwhile, Dominick Gabriel Hawthorne stands at the top of the school's social ladder as the football team's quarterback. Despite his popularity, he trusts only two people: Adrien Blake Moore and Silas Harry Lowehart. Dominick easily draws the attention of many, yet no one truly piques his interest, until now. Fate intertwines their lives through school projects-Adrien partners with Anastasia, and Iris teams up with Dominick. As old wounds resurface and secrets threaten to unravel, the students of Vale-Wood realize that their supposedly safe town may harbor dangers beyond their imagining. What will they do when the shadows of the past threaten to consume them?

At the university where the hallways hide secrets and parties are battlegrounds for unspoken rivalries, Dean Withers has everything under control-or at least pretends to. President of the most influential fraternity on campus and host of a podcast that's gaining traction, he's mastered the art of commanding attention while keeping the cracks hidden. Lyanna Beaumont, on the other hand, finds comfort in the silence of books and the safety of the few people she trusts. After a rocky start at university, the last thing she expected was to be noticed by Dean-someone from a world completely different from her own. Through chance encounters, subtle glances, and conversations that reveal more than they should, the two begin to realize they might have more in common than they thought: a fear of trust, the weight of expectations, and the feeling that something inside them is breaking. But in a place where everything can be used against you, even the most honest emotions need to be protected. And when the masks begin to fall... what fragments will be left behind?
