Forgotten Promises || H.S
29 parts Ongoing He didn't take the hint. He leaned forward, arms resting on his knees now. "What happened to you, Lia?"
That did it.
I looked at him. Right at him. The boy I once knew, now buried under this version of himself that didn't know how to be kind unless something cracked open first.
"Nothing happened to me," I said quietly, teeth gritted. "I just stopped pretending everything was fine when it wasn't."
Harry tilted his head. "You used to be funnier."
I scoffed, standing up, tossing the blanket off me. "And you used to give a shit."

They say first love is soft and simple.
But what about when it starts as friendship,
built on scraped knees, secrets, and growing up too close?
What does it feel like to watch someone change,
from the person who promised to protect you
to a stranger you barely recognize?
Sometimes love turns cold, sharp, and silent.
He left.
He changed.
Now he's back.
And I don't know which hurts more...
still feeling something,
or knowing he doesn't.

Amelia Moore - a girl shaped by loss and silence. After her dad passed when she was nineteen, and with her mother unable to care for her, Anne, Harry's mum, took her in. She carries a quiet strength beneath a guarded exterior, wearing dry humour like armor and pouring coffees in a small village cafΓ© to keep herself grounded. She doesn't easily trust or open up, and she's learned to survive without asking for help. Most see her as steady, but beneath the surface, grief and loneliness are never far.
This is a slow burn, friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story about loss, loneliness, and trying to find yourself when the person you loved most isn't the same anymore.
Sometimes, healing starts with facing the past, even if it's the hardest thing you'll ever do.
