When you sleep, when you weep

Eight years... eight long years enduring House's cynicism, his constant cutting remarks, and his stubborn self. When he was an insensitive arse who couldn't keep up any relations - romantic or platonic - Laura had remained. She had seen him at his lowest, when pain and bitterness swallowed him whole, and yet, she never ran away.

Eight years at Princeton-Plainsboro had taught Laura Swan many things : how to read lab results at a glance, how to survive on caffeine and sarcasm, and ultimately... how to survive Gregory House and the storm that seemed to follow him wherever he went. House was infuriatingly clever and maddeningly self-destructive but, somehow, she never quite managed to walk away, as their friendship was first built on sharp words and silent understandings and most importantly, a balance between exasperation and loyalty.

When over the years began to blur the strict boundaries House had carefully maintained, Laura is forced to question what truly lies between them, and whether loving such a cold and closed man like House meant fixing him or losing herself in the process.
