the dragon's forgotten mate

The fire has been calling me for as long as I can remember.
In every dream , I stand in a hall of gold and ash , the world burning around me , and a man made of light and flame reaches out his hand .His eyes are molten gold , his voice a promise, and a curse :

"Find me , my flame . Before the world forgets us both."

I always wake up before I can touch him .
And when I do , there's smoke in my throat and a scar of heat across my wrist that wasn't there before.

People call it "sleep paralysis " I call it fate, laughing at me.

I didn't know it yet , but the fire inside me wasn't from this world.
And the man in my dreams wasn't just a nightmare.
He's real.
And he's coming for me whenever I like it or not .
