In 1930s Bengal, Anirudh Roy Choudhury falls in love with Bondita Das at first sight. But her heart belongs to another, and family pressure forces her into a marriage she does not want. Anirudh loves her silently, never demanding affection, and when he learns the truth, he selflessly lets her go.
Fate intervenes cruelly when her husband dies, leaving her widowed and pregnant. Anirudh returns, embracing her and her child with unconditional love. Slowly, Bondita realizes the depth of his devotion, discovering a love she had never known before.
