What if the one person who knows you best is the one you still can't figure out? ----------------- Zach Astor Hughes III was supposed to be long gone-NHL-bound, campus-free, pre-law degree in hand, and finally out of Rae Emilia Collins's face. Instead, a delayed call-up leaves him stuck for another semester... in the same city, same friend group, and way too close to the girl he's never managed to get over. They've been childhood best friends, almost-somethings, and every messy version in between. He's the boy who taught her how to shoot. She's the girl who taught him how to feel. And after years of on-and-off chemistry that burns hotter than the rink lights, Rae's made it clear-this is their last chance to get it right. But when old sparks collide with new stakes, neither of them can stick to the rules. Because some goals aren't just scored on the ice. TOP SHELF- because some goals are worth waiting for.

Aubrey Carr doesn't do athletes, especially not hockey players with egos bigger than the rink. As a rising star in the journalism department and a legendary campus partier, she's used to being the one in control of her stories, her image, and definitely her heart. Easton Black doesn't do rules. Late to practice, always one punch away from suspension, and carrying more baggage than he lets on, he's a walking headline waiting to happen. He's also the best player on the team, and he knows it. When Aubrey gets stuck shadowing Easton for a make-or-break feature story, sparks fly in all the wrong (and right) directions. He's cocky, infuriating, and way too observant. She's bold, untouchable, and exactly the distraction he doesn't need. The only thing they have in common? They'd rather lose the game than fall for each other. Too bad life and love don't play fair.
