After the sudden disappearance of the rainwings, the tribes seemed to have found peace without them, but under Queen Hessonites rule, a captivity program is being held, enforced by the need for status, money, and a monopoly.

Rainwings are bred for looks- misunderstood. Skywings look for the richest of blues, a sign of prosperity and wealth. Many dragons work for years to get the best colours, to satisfy the queen, and earn themselves a better life.

Upon the hatching of thirty-two, her misjudged deformities make her a high priority to the queen, much to her captors satisfaction. She is sold to the queen- and shrike, the daughter to her captor, is sent with her.
She doesn't know if she'll ever get out- if her tribe exists outside of this excreable program, but as she and shrike grow closer, she must decide whether her desire for companionship or her hope to find more like herself are more important.
