An infant named Sol-El was flown away in a pod from a faraway planet called Krypton moments before its destruction. The pod crash-landed on Earth, specifically outside of Chicago, a quarter mile away from a human couple just returning to the city.

17 years later, the infant, now grown to a teenager and now named Shaun Palmer, struggles between his own heritage and his duties as the hero named Superboy while threats loom over the planet he now calls home
