How am I supposed to sleep beside him? I mean-him-my unexpected groom. Moreover, I'm his replacement bride! Ugh, think, think, Aaru... you can't just sleep next to your Mr. Unexpected like it's normal.
Suddenly, the sound of snapping fingers pulled me out of my thoughts.
He raised an eyebrow, his gaze questioning. "What happened?"
I quickly shook my head and whispered, "Actually... um, how will we sleep beside each other?"
Before I could finish, he interrupted. "No worries. I'll sleep on the floor, you can take the bed."
My eyes widened. "No, no! It's your bed. I'll sleep on the floor." I shook my head furiously.
He looked at me for a long moment, then his voice dropped-low, husky, and dangerously soft.
"Goddesses don't sleep on the floor, biwi. But devotees do."
His words froze me on the spot.
My breath hitched. Biwi. The way he said it... so effortlessly, as if the word had always belonged to me.
