After a cataclysm event wiping out a majority of humanity, the surviving population constructed enormous structures called domes to shield them from the dangers. For some reason, the fog clears up on the summer solstice every year. Celia, a 17-year-old girl lives in Dome 13. This year, the solstice falles on her birthday. But after an unexpected turn of events, she finds herself outside the dome alongside her nemesis. They both have to cooperate in order to survive in the fog, and it's dangers.

Welcome to the E.X.C.H.A.N.G.E. here on planet Xen the people are much like you on Earth, but they have animal-like features. Human faces, animal ears, and tails. Mating habits of animals, and animal prints found in their hair skin, and eyes. The Program takes the DNA of the parents who adopted the new child and infuses it into the new body of the student causing a false lab birth. "I'm bein' serious as all outdoors, I can't say it." Jack says. "Maybe because you talk like a weed whacker." I say. Jack looks taken back by my comment. "You're funny. I like you...Kerin?" Jack says. "Keep trying." I say. "Jack, why don't you help Kieran settle into his room?" Roger suggests putting so much emphasis on my name, I almost forget how to say it. "You mean my room? Sure thing, Father." Jack huffs. Wait... I have to share a room with that thing? He looks like he bites. "Don't worry, Kieran. He don't bite." Roger assures me. Did I say that aloud or has Jack bitten in the past? **************************** Kieran's life is in shambles. No one really knew how X's came to be. One day there weren't any, the next day half the population was wiped out. All Karma knew was that they are technological monsters, fit to be the world's biggest weapon, after the splitting particle ray which could reduce any person into air particles in a millisecond. Karma realised how simple it would be to destroy an army even with one X. They were practically indestructible, perfect killing machines, only they'd turned on the government, apparently. Or maybe those bastards had escaped perfectly unharmed, watching how the country was being destroyed. Maybe it was an excuse for overpopulation. xx-xx Karma has been trying to survive for over a year, but it's difficult when X's, mechanical killing machines, roam the streets, hungry for human flesh. Every day that passes by without finding a portal brings the morale lower. They need to escape the country before they all end up dead. It doesn't help that the X's have changed their tactics and are now manipulating people to commit suicide.
