The clouds parted. And a single figure hovered over the Earth.
Floating. Weightless.
Skin the color of deep brown, eyes burning scarlet , not glowing, but gleaming, like polished garnet catching flame. His black hair drifted in the airless silence, weightless as the red silk of his loin cloth. His wrists adorned in gold bangles, his chest bare.
He didn't move. He didn't need to. The sky moved around him.
Cameras across the city locked onto him. People screamed, pointed, prayed.
From the ground, the IJS Lead Commander of the Executioners, Justice, voice echoed over the comms.
"Identify yourself. State your purpose."
For a long moment, he didn't answer.
Then, his lips parted.
"The stars have spoken and named your planet unworthy. I am the last syllable of their prayer." His voice didn't boom, it was velvet, smooth like honey but dark as wine. He stared down at the world below him like it was nothing.
The Executioners moved into position ready to try and intercept something they didn't know could end them all in seconds.
The mysterious boy's mouth opened again.
"Your-"
The sentence died.
His expression flickered. His head tilted.
Far below, a small white puppy was nosing its way out of an alley, chasing a discarded wrapper into the street.
The boy blinked. Once. Twice. Then his eyes widened.
"OH MY GOD," he gasped, voice suddenly bright and warm. "A puppy!"
He dropped from the sky, a streak of red silk.
