She was twelve when she opened her door to a dying stranger.

By morning, her clan was gone.

Now sixteen, she answers to Ayame- a name given by the Zoldyck family, not chosen. They raised her into something precise, obedient, dangerous. A shadow assigned to guard their heir, a weapon taught not to question.

It should be enough. It's supposed to be enough.

But something inside her mind refuses to stay buried.

Smoke clings to her memory like it never left. Screams echo where silence should be. And her hands remember blood her mind won't claim.

Things start to shift during the Hunter Exam.

That's where she meets Kurapika, who claims to be the last survivor of a destroyed clan-one that sounds too familiar.

The more time passes, the harder it becomes to ignore the feeling that something isn't right.
