When the rain never stops, neither do the sins. Detective Alex Carter thought he'd seen the worst of his city-until a dead man's ledger surfaces, filled with names that shouldn't exist and numbers that could burn the whole department down. Every page is a confession written in red ink, tying the city's most powerful men to its darkest crimes. As Carter digs deeper, the bodies start to pile up. His allies vanish. His enemies close in. And the only person left to trust is Sylvia Drake, a photographer with a past stitched to the very crimes he's chasing. Together, they'll follow the blood trail through smoke-choked streets, backroom deals, and graves that were never meant to be found. But the closer Carter gets to the truth, the clearer one thing becomes- in a city built on corruption, every revelation comes with a price. Some stories aren't written in ink. They're written in the blood we leave behind.

Verity City is drowning in neon and smoke. Theaters rot, radios whisper lies, and every alley hides a face you almost recognize. Reese Calder thought he'd left detective work behind-until a cassette lands on his doorstep. On it: a murder told in his own voice. By morning, the body is real. Each new tape drags Reese deeper into a nightmare: streets that shift, faces that vanish, a city editing itself like film. His reflection flickers in old projectors. His voice bleeds through dead air. And someone is scripting his life-one that always ends in blood. The question isn't who's guilty. It's who's real. A razor-edged noir mystery, where déjà vu kills and every broadcast could be the last. ( Thank you for reading! This story is part of a completed series I've written, so you can enjoy it from start to finish. I hope you get lost in it as much as I did while writing. Enjoy! :)
