The house was quieter than it had ever been.
Not the peaceful kind of quiet that followed laughter or bedtime stories- but the kind that came after something broke. Something that couldn't be fixed with just words.
From the balcony upstairs, Anagha could still see the faint light from Abhiram's room-always the last to go off, always glowing long after everyone else had fallen asleep. She stared at it the way one stares at an old photograph, knowing it belonged to a time that wouldn't return.
Three years since that afternoon when everything changed.
Three years, he stayed away from the family, from his only sister.
And finally, he returned home when their mom emotionally blackmailed him to come back home or that she was going to leave the home too along with their dad and move to his house leaving Anagha alone so that she gets the punishment for what she did and deserved.
Three years of not living under the same roof or not sharing the same meals, didn't reduce his love for her even a tiny bit. His mom's blackmail worked, because he is too protective of his sister and couldn't let his parents leave her alone.
No one remembered how the fight started anymore- only the silence that followed it.
Dev and Krithya tried everything. Family dinners, quiet talks, weekend getaways, subtle interventions that almost always ended in slammed doors and tighter jaws.
Abhiram's words still echoed in their minds: "Don't try to fix this, Ma. Not until she realizes what she's done."
And Anagha-stubborn, wounded, proud-had said just as firmly, "I didn't do anything wrong."
In between them, love turned into something fragile and sharp- a thread stretched too thin between two hearts that still beat for each other but refused to bend.
And somewhere, under all that pride, both Anagha and Abhiram still waited- for the other to take the first step.
Because sometimes, love doesn't fade.
It just hides behind the hurt, waiting for one word brave enough to bring it home.

"What do you all want me to do now? Forget everything just like that and act like I am totally fine!" shouted Drithi. Everyone can sense the anger radiating through her, the ever-calm eyes have turned bloodshot, and she is literally shaking unable to control her anger anymore. Darsh grabbed my hand, taking me towards Drithi and angrily shouted on her, "Just come to your senses Dri! You are always adamantly trying to think from your point alone. Just look at him in the eyes, put yourself in his shoes and think for once. Tell me you don't love him anymore! How much was he hurt by doing all this, how much he loves you that he was ready to lose you and how much he loves you that he crossed every hurdle to return to you? He was scared every moment that you will be hurt, he lived these two years, worried that he will see pity in your eyes if you come to know of what happened Dri. The last thing he wants in his life is to see pity in your eyes for him. Why don't you understand that?" She looked at Darsh in fury, holding his collar with her trembling hands and shouted, "If he really loved me, he should have shown a little trust in me bhaiya. If he really loved me like you say, he would have known that it isn't pity that will reflect in my eyes on knowing the truth, but it would have been my love for him, in my eyes. He would have known if he truly loved me, that I wouldn't be hurt but be his biggest strength and support him every moment in these two years. Neither can anyone change what he did then, nor can any of you change what I went through!"
