In 1961, just months after the inauguration of President Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., a troublemaking "young man" from Southern California, his best and only friend since childhood, and three other outcasts were conscripted into the US military to fight in America's war in Cuba as punishment for crimes they definitely committed. After barely surviving a year of fighting Cuban rebel forces against their will, including one especially close call that continues to haunt them, they did their best to return to what remained of their lives. In 1964, five young women woke up from a strange shared dream with the bodies they always wanted (plus some slight demonic modifications) and the power to take their revenge on the men determined to drag the country down the slippery slope of fascism. Contains: Alternate history, violence, depictions of post-war trauma,, mentions of an alcoholic father, allusions to comp-het, brief old timey misogyny, gay shit, egg cracking subplot, radical politics, Catholic guilt (but like, in a funny way), continuous discussions concerning the maintenance and operation of firearms and Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and an excruciatingly detailed account of Disneyland Park in the summer of 1964.
