In Manarah town where shadows creep,
A soldier laughed, but none could sleep.

He wore a smile, he wore the sun,
But the Moonmark whispered, "It's never done."

His baby was born with a silver scar,
The same pale mark he carried afar.

The child grew thin, the mother cried,
The house grew dark, and love had died.

The Moon sang low, "You can't undo,
The faces you buried are coming for you."

Now children knock on the windowpane,
Calling his name again and again.

And if you look at the Moon at night,
You'll see his face, pale and white.
