Bound by Midnight is a fanfiction inspired by the character Dontis, created by the truly incredible ASMR artist ZsakuVA. This story was born out of deep respect and years of admiration for his work.
Even if you're not familiar with ZsakuVA's videos, you can still read and enjoy this story. It's written to be accessible and clearly explained from the very beginning. However, I wholeheartedly encourage you to explore ZsakuVA's creations yourself-his work is truly remarkable, and you'd be missing something special without it.
Some characters, story elements, and one of the main protagonists in this book belong to ZsakuVA and were not created by me. Still, I've done my best to weave them into this story with care and love. With this book, I hope to give something back-as a fan-to the artist who has given so much.

Life has a twisted sense of humor, and Kishibe is about to become the punchline. For years, he's lived by a simple code: kill devils, train rookies who'll probably die anyway, and seduce women with practiced ease. Sure, Quanxi never fell for his charms, but who's counting? With a bottle in one hand and a cigarette in the other, Kishibe has perfected the art of drowning out the screams, the blood, and the endless parade of corpses that define a Devil Hunter's existence. In his rare moments of silence, though, a question haunts him: What if I'd chosen differently? Then fate answers. A phone call shatters an ordinary afternoon, not a telemarketer, not a wrong number, but a lawyer with impossible news. A woman from his past has died, leaving him something in her will. Kishibe expects nothing more than forgotten trinkets, maybe a dusty painting from a relative he can't recall. When he finds out what is, or more specifically who it is he's shocked to his core. A four-year-old boy clutches a cloud-patterned blanket to his chest, eyes wide and uncertain. The child has his mother's features, yes, but in the curve of his jaw, the set of his eyes, Kishibe sees the unmistakable shadow of himself staring back. Kenji. That's his name. The man who thought he'd die alone, another nameless hunter swallowed by the darkness, now holds the small hand of a son he never knew existed. This child, fragile, innocent, impossibly his, is about to unravel everything Kishibe thought he understood about life, death, and the razor's edge between them. But Kenji won't just change one cynical Devil Hunter's world. He'll change the worlds of many. The world watches. Waits. Wonders whether this boy will become its salvation, or its damnation. Some doors, once opened, can never be closed again.

Matt Rose is nothing special. Though he's friends with witches and vampires, monsters and ghosts, Matt himself has always been painfully mundane. So, when an accident reveals he has a gift of his own, Matt is overjoyed. For his husband, Ben, on the other hand, it seems like one weird thing too many. With a growing rift between them, Matt can't understand why Ben doesn't love the magic in their lives the way he does, and why he seems able to make time for just about everyone and everything except for him. Finally, when things reach a breaking point just days before their first anniversary, Matt is devastated. With his heart in pieces, he decides to take matters into his own hands, get the truth, and win Ben back. As he quickly discovers, though, magic is fickle--a coin with two sides. A little bit of it can go a long way, and not always in the direction he might have hoped. --- About this story: This story features characters from the Ari & Soren books, 'Bound by Blood (formerly titled 'Breath of Osiris') and 'Hecate's Gift.' It is an interlude between the end of book 2 and the beginning of Book 3. -SGG, 2020/06/05) --- Rating: PG 13, some language and sexuality, non-explicit. --- Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. **AVAILABLE ON AMAZON** (Book One in the Whispers of Nowhere trilogy) When Gwen's father gets home late from work, it's just another typical night for the museum curator's daughter. Still, there's something strange about the artifacts he's brought home this time, something so unique that she can't help but touch them. In a blinding flash, the artifacts vanish, and a mysterious man appears in their place. Only he's not a man at all. Forneus is a daemon, an intermediary between gods and man-and the guardian of the very artifacts Gwen has just unwittingly sent back to their places of origin around the globe. Gwen doesn't have time to absorb this before a new figure emerges: Phenex, the human-personification of the legendary bird, himself. The next thing she knows, she's being whisked away from the comfort of her home into a world beyond her wildest imaginings. When she thinks things couldn't possibly get any more complicated, she's proven wrong. Because those bizarre artifacts? They were protective seals to a place called Nowhere; a prison realm created by the gods to contain all of the malevolent forces Gwen has only heard about in bedtime stories. Now those very same forces are on the rampage, intent on revenge against the gods whom imprisoned them-and they don't care who else gets hurt along the way. Possessing innate powers she can't even begin to understand, it is up to Gwen and her two mysterious allies to reclaim the lost artifacts before someone far more sinister does...
