Of course. My name coming from her lips causes a riptide of anxiety to take over. I freeze. I just read this in the chapter summary yet the words blur in my mind. 

"It's-um-" I start, then stop. Her expression doesn't change, but somehow that's worse than disappointment. It's an expectation. Like she's handing me a scientific dagger, daring me to strike her with it.

I try to take a breath.
