They were kids that felt such a love for eachother so strong they couldn't understand it.

She survived a home that was almost the death of her.

He survived losing her.

When CPS took Lisa from him he swore he'd find her again, if the world was kind enough.

He never forgave himself for not being the one to save her.

He wished he was there to call the cops and tear the knife from her father's hands.

Five years later he walks into the wrong kindergarten, face to face with her name scrawled on plaques and diploma's.

Face to face with her.

She wasn't a ghost of the girl she was, she was more alive than she had ever been.

But she hadn't prepared herself to meet him again, boundaries and trauma built after years of separation from her childhood.

Yet he was still the boy who burned for her, if only she let him close enough to feel the heat.

They don't speak the truth, they circle each other like a promise neither were brave enough to make.

Loving her could cost him everything,

Loving him will sting like lemon in a fresh wound,

Neither are ready to survive losing each other twice.

SHE LEARNED TO LICK THE KNIVES DIPPED IN POISON. Nothing was ever given to Rebekah Dixon on a damn silver platter. Everything that made up her core being was embedded in survival. Nobody was coming to save her like a damned princess locked in an ivory tower. Her life was in shambles the minute she was born to an alcoholic, abusive father. One brother half in and out of her life like clockwork every few weeks, juvie, jail, and the other brother who tried his damned best to shield her. Even if it was futile. He just kept coming and coming. Until he didn't. GLENN RHEE was just a pizza delivery boy swarming in debt, barely making ends meet when the rise of the dead began. Pizzas. A different kind of survival was embedded in who he was the moment he left the safe haven of Michigan and ventured to Macon. He knew the ins and outs of the city better than the mayor himself, probably, and that was the sole reason he survived the initial onslaught of the dead. His family was surely dead. All gone, wiped off the face of the earth as far as Glenn knew. When he met Rebekah, all Glenn could think was that maybe the end of the world wasn't so bad if he could look at her. She was hardened, not much of a talker. Not like he was, and yet.. He could not stop trying to get the girl to smile. The two unlikely survivors find solace in each other.. eventually.
