This is a short piece about love between humans and animals - a gender reminder that affection doesn't always have to come from people. Sometimes, the purest kind of love is found in the eyes of our pets - the ones who never judge, never leave, and never ask for anything more than our presence.
"I'm Better Off With My Pets" speaks about finding comport in the loyalty of dogs and the quiet companionship of cats - how they heal wounds that words can't, and how their silent gestures can mean more than a thousand human promises.
This story was written by me to show that love doesn't have to be complicated - sometimes, it just purrs beside you or wags its tail when you come home.

The Vampires have come out of hiding running the top business and 'mostly' keeping to themselves. A dirty rumor has spread for years on them kidnapping women and men alike stuffing them away in their ivory towers. Doesn't help they still interact like it's the medieval world with a modern touch. No one knows why, nor how more vampires are being created. When Evelyn leaves a party she's met with a god like man. She doesn't have time to evade when he throws her into a car with a mess of fireworks cracking over her skin. ~ "Please, please! I promise to be good, just let go. I won't speak a word of this! No one will know a Duke laid a hand on me." I tug on the door handle begging it to release. The soft leathers chill against my warm skin mocking me of the current predicament. He doesn't say anything in return, just keeps down the road in the opposite direction of my home, "Okay, fine! If you want to take me, and I be the best woman you've ever held hostage... I need my dog." Think! Think! That got his attention. A horrid about of alcohol is in my system causing me to sprout idiotic ideas. I mean, what if the vampires eat dogs, "You'll be a good girl if I get your dog?" "On a vampires blood promise." I make an 'x' on my heart. It's an oath most in this world don't take lightly, "Just for you." "How ironic." But the weirdly formal looking attired man turned down a familiar road heading back towards my apartment. I never gave him the address, nor was I able to stay awake long enough to greet my little angel, but her nose bops in greeting were enough to tell me she's safe while I dozed back off in the care of a duke. ~ 18+

The Lost Dog - Purrlock Holmes' first case (English Translation)
A dog disappears from the safety of its owner's home, but nobody wants to believe her that the old girl has been kidnapped. With the help of his faithful dog Woofsen and his clever cat Holmes, Private detective John Roe sets out to find answers. Crime short story (approx. 15,000 words) 'Woofsen and Holmes lead a quiet and - for one of them - boring life. One day a young woman appears on their owner's doorstep to ask the private detective for help, and they are certain - without the support of his faithful dog and clever cat, private detective John Roe is at a loss in his search for the missing dog.' This story is the first I've dared to write in a long time. Apart from a few first chapters of countless bad fantasy stories I wrote in my youth, this is the first coherent narrative I've ever written (excluding school assignments and even those were, phew..., ten years and more ago). This is also my first English translation. I myself am not a native speaker and this was just another form of writing exercise for me. If you want to help me improve my English skills, please feel free to help me better my grammar and diction. It would mean a lot to me. Even though this story is a detective story, my main focus is on giving the few characters that appear in this narrative their own voices and behaviours. I see this story as an exercise in adopting a point of view that was previously unknown to me - that of the faithful dog Woofsen. I hope you enjoy the characters as much as I enjoyed writing them. Vampire's Pet
The world had gone to hell long ago, taken over by the vampire race. In order to keep some sort of peace in our land, the Vampire Lords made a consecutive agreement. The rich and powerful humans could survive just as they had been, untouched by the vampires save for the occasional blood collection, or so they thought In reality, we were all under their control. Castles spread out throughout our land, one landing in each city. Each castle varied in the number of vampires residing there, but all of them carried a Lord. The Lords were the ones in charge in every city, whether we liked it or not. The vampires often roam through the city, making sure that everyone was in order and no one stepped out of line. If you stepped out of line, you died, end of story. Even if the rich were still under their control, their lives were still better than the poor. The poorest lives held a much worse fate. The men were to be put to work as slaves, whether that meant serving a specific vampire, or just building their castles, they were slaves. The women were to be pets. Pets were the lowest rank you could have. They were forced into cages that were too small to stand in with collars around their necks. They spent their lives in pet shops, just waiting for the dreadful day that they'll be bought. They were treated like animals, trained into what their master wanted, and punished if they misbehaved. Those who were lucky enough to live through that, we're to be slaughtered for their blood at age twenty-five in an act to make sure that our population would stay steady. I was born into this world. Born into this world full of blood-sucking monsters. Except, I was one of the lucky ones. Was. It all ended for me when I was 12, when I was taken away from the last bit of hope and family that I had left.
