Regina's back and she wants her spot back. Everyone's moved on but she's still roaming the halls waiting for her perfect opportunity to build her social life back up, but there's one problem.

There's a pest and his name is Rodrick.

Every step forward she takes? He's right there taking one back, stepping on her toes every step of the way. There's only a matter of time before each argument blurs the line between rivalry and something dangerously close to habit.

Rodrick exhaled slowly, pushing off the doorframe. "That's it?"

Her eyes narrowed. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"That's all you wanted?" he asked, walking past her towards the counter. "To ruin Cady?"

"Yes," she said defensively.

He nodded once. "Then all you had to do was ask."

Regina blinked. "What?"

Rodrick turned back to face her, arms crossed, a faint smirk returning. "That's what fake boyfriends do, right? Help their fake girlfriends get what they want."

For a second, she didn't speak. Then, slowly, Regina's lips curled into something almost like a smile.

"Careful, Heffley," she called out. "You might actually make yourself useful."

Rodrick tilted his head. "Oh, I've been useful. You're just always too pissed off to notice."
