Bentonite-cement slurry seepage prevention wall is a type of anti-seepage wall formed by pouring a slurry solution made from ordinary Portland cement, bentonite, and water into pre-drilled grooves, resulting in a wall with excellent anti-seepage properties. Since the 1950s, European countries have used cement-bentonite vertical seepage prevention walls to prevent the spread of contaminated groundwater. This technology was later extended to reservoir dams, lakes, and even for the landfill disposal of heavy metal waste or high-level radioactive waste. However, chemical components and pollutants in the groundwater environment can react with the cement-bentonite solid, significantly affecting the permeability and strength of the wall. In addition, bentonite can also be made into bentonite clay and bentonite waterstop strips for waterproofing treatment at construction joints or joints of prefabricated components.
