Freen, an astronomer, has always found solace in the stars. A prodigy who finished her Master degree by 24, also teaches part-time at her alma mater, Chulalongkorn University. Orphaned young and having lost her beloved aunt seven years ago, Freen lives a life shaped by quiet routines and empty rooms, where her telescope is her only constant companion. Her one true warmth comes from the local orphanage, where she volunteers to fill the silent spaces in her heart. Rebecca, diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, finds her entire universe not in the sky, but in the machines that conquer it. Aeroplanes are her world - their engines, models, wingspans, histories, even the aircraft used in the world wars. Her vast knowledge and intense fascination with aviation are her primary ways of understanding and connecting with the world. Raised by orphanage owners Dion and Helena Armstrong, Rebecca lost her mother a decade ago and now navigates life under the gentle care of her father, Dion. One day, during her usual visit to the orphanage, Dion asked Freen for a favour - one that would change her life forever. P/s: Asperger's Syndrome, a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder, is a developmental disorder. People who have this type of ASD tend to have a hard time relating to others socially. They may stick to a very specific routine and have a narrow set of interests. Although the term Asperger's isn't an official diagnosis anymore, some people still use the term to describe autistic people who are "high-functioning" or who have low support needs.

When Becky Armstrong's wedding day ends in tragedy-her fiancé presumed dead in a car crash just moments before their vows-her life is thrown into disarray. Six months pregnant and emotionally shattered, Becky finds herself drowning in grief, disbelief, and the impossible weight of raising a child alone. Enter Freen Sarocha Chankimha-the Armstrong brothers' best friend, Seattle's most renowned cardiothoracic surgeon, and the one woman Becky has never been able to tolerate. Raised under the same roof but always kept at arm's length, Freen has loved Becky silently, unconditionally, and without hope for years. When Becky's parents propose an unexpected solution-a marriage between Becky and Freen to protect both mother and child-Freen agrees, asking for nothing in return. Becky, hardened and heartbroken, makes it clear she can never love her. But marriage has a way of unraveling the truth-about grief, about loyalty, and about the kind of love that survives in silence. "In the Absence of Love" is a story of slow-burn healing, unspoken promises, and the quiet ways someone can save your heart... even when you've given up on it.
