Meryl Fletcher and her younger cousin, Oxford, are on a routine camping trip with their family-until Meryl's dog, Chupin, starts acting strangely. Unsettled, Meryl leaves the comfort of her tent to track down her wayward mutt, with an unwilling Ox reluctantly in tow. As they wander deeper into the misty forest, they stumble upon a secluded cabin. There, they find Chupin's collar abandoned on the doorstep, and a boy and his mother invite them inside for a meal. Though their hosts seem kind enough, an unease lingers in the air, and something about the quiet isolation of the cabin feels... off. Meryl and Ox can't shake the feeling that there's more to this encounter than meets the eye. And the longer they stay, the more they begin to question whether they're truly alone in the woods.

Star McCall has never been afraid of adventure. In fact, she craves it. Smart, sarcastic, and never without a witty comeback, Star is the twin sister of Scott McCall-two minutes younger, but always ready to remind him she's the sharper one. When a dead body is discovered in the woods of Beacon Hills, Star finds herself pulled into a dangerous mystery alongside Scott and their best friend, Stiles Stilinski-the boy she secretly can't stop thinking about. What begins as a reckless late-night search for answers quickly spirals into something far darker than Star could have imagined. Strange noises in the woods, snarling creatures with glowing eyes, and secrets the police can't explain-all of it points to something lurking just beneath the surface of their quiet town. As Scott starts to change in ways neither of them can explain, Star must balance her instincts for adventure with her loyalty to her brother. She'll need her quick wit, her courage, and maybe even Stiles's reckless determination if she wants to survive what's hunting them. Because in Beacon Hills, the line between myth and reality is thinner than anyone ever realized. And for Star, being two minutes younger might mean she has two minutes less to figure it all out.
