Seoul, 2025 Jimin's life had always been careful - every word measured, every step controlled. But Yana... she wasn't careful. She was his childhood friend, bound to him by a promise he had never fully understood. Now, her obsession with that promise pressed on him like a shadow he couldn't shake. He didn't want to hurt her. But every smile from her, every lingering look, made his chest ache. Then Bhumi came. A student with laughter like sunlight, who didn't know about Yana, the promise, or the weight on his shoulders. With her, he could breathe, laugh, and forget the chains of obligation, if only for a little while. "Jimin..." Yana's voice trembled one evening. "You promised me..." "I know," he said gently. "But we were children. I care for you... always. But my heart can't give what it doesn't feel yet." Her eyes shimmered with hurt, but he didn't flinch. Honesty was kinder than false hope. Later, Bhumi slipped her hand into his. Simple. Warm. Real. And in that touch, he felt free - free to be happy, free to love, free to live. Jimin smiled. Maybe promises mattered... but so did choosing light over shadows.

"Wait," she murmured. Her eyes fluttered open, hazy with sleep. "Who are you? Show me your face." Jimin froze, his heart aching at the vulnerability in her voice. "Huh?" He knelt beside her, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Are you dreaming?" He chuckled softly. "What a cutie." Her fingers loosened, her hand falling back onto the bed. Jimin leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "I'm someone who likes you, idiot," he whispered, his voice tender. "More than you'll ever know." He lingered for a moment, then with one last glance at her peaceful face, he quietly left the room. - To the Readers - Promise is a fan fiction that I began writing during the peak of the pandemic. At that time, we kept hearing that wearing masks was our new normal and that staying at home would be part of our lives for the foreseeable future. It was a challenging period for all of us to adjust, but thankfully, things have improved since then. During that time, I found myself wondering: How do BTS and other public figures feel, constantly under the public's gaze, vulnerable to judgment and hate? Do they accept this as their new normal? Have they learned to adjust to it, or are they still longing for the "real" normal? This thought weighed on me heavily. I paused working on the story as my focus shifted to other responsibilities-work, and nurturing my painting and digital skills. But after five years, I've decided to revisit my unfinished stories, unsure if fanfiction is still widely read. If you find this, I hope it brings you comfort. So, here is Promise, a heartfelt fan fiction that explores the deep and evolving relationship between Luna, a passionate young woman with a mysterious past, and Jimin, a member of a popular K-pop group struggling with his own inner turmoil. When they meet by chance, their connection sparks something neither of them anticipated.
