"Mirror" is a poem about the quiet battles we face when we look at ourselves through our own eyes.
It captures the life of a teenager growing up under the weight of society's expectations - learning to hide, to compare, and to doubt. But beneath those fears, it reminds us that our reflection is more than what the world chooses to see. It's about rediscovering our worth and finding beauty in our flaws. We've all stood in front of the mirror, noticing every flaw the world taught us to see. This poem explores that exact feeling- the constant fear of judgement, the wish to be enough and the slow healing that comes with self acceptance. "Mirror" is a quiet reflection of teenage life where we learn our imperfections are not weaknesses, but proof that we are all real, growing human beings.

Hannah McCauley doesn't look at herself in the mirror anymore. After a rebellious past, she now attends a strict private school in a new town, where her recently divorced mother has put her on social lockdown. No driving. No bad grades. No skipping classes. No unapproved friends. No makeup. No boys. And the subject of her best friend from her old school is definitely forbidden. Hannah is being punished for something that happened a year earlier, something that she would like to put behind her. But strange occurrences frighten her, and she's accused of breaking rules and doing other terrible things without any recollection of them. No one believes her, so she starts distrusting everything, even her own reflection. Is she being haunted by her past? Stalked by someone with a grudge? Or is it all in her head? If she doesn't figure out what's happening fast, her existence could end up irreparably shattered. - - - - - Copyright © 2017 by Tara St. Pierre All rights reserved. "Just like the moon you are. Shining so bright in the darkness of the night. Reflecting one's shadow. Like the mirror, you're giving off beauty to a beauty, madness to a madness, heartbeat to a heartbeat, misery to a misery. You are nothing but my own reflection" He said, looking at me sideways. I stare at him deeply. It was so unexpected of him to say something in a metaphorical way, especially in this time of an event. "Always remember, we are under the same sky, looking at the same moon." I replied anyway... The story follows a teenage girl, stuck with her own, pathetic thoughts.
