Celestial waited for Elijah-the boy who once made her feel safe, the boy who promised he'd never forget her. Through years of distance, fleeting memories, and quiet, rainy afternoons, she clung to the hope that one day he would return. Every heartbeat was a reminder of what she had lost, yet she never let go of the promise she made when they were ten.

But some waits last longer than the heart can endure. Fragile from anemia and asthma, and weighed down by longing she could never voice, Celestial's patience became her undoing. In the end, it wasn't love that killed her-it was the waiting, a silent thief that stole her away before the reunion she had dreamed of could ever happen.
