His rejection only fuelled her vaulting desire to be adored, specifically by him. He wasn't simple, he was a puzzle box of sharp edges and hidden depths. He reminded her of no one she had ever known before, and that in itself was intoxicating. So, she did what she did best; she made him adore her. And in doing so, maybe - just maybe - she had convinced herself that she had fallen for him.

But, how can genuine love ever take root when your personality is merely a stage for performed emotions? How should you ever experience the full, requited vulnerability that love demands? Well sometimes, you just simply cannot.
