Did you think your 2020 started badly?
Could you handle a broken heart, an accident and being lost in a foreign country on top of a world wide pandemic?
My name is Jean Paul, my friends call me JP. I am Canadian, living in the city of Vancouver and am 27 years old.
I consider myself to be a lucky guy most of the time, I have many friends and my parents love me.
My favourite sport is Ice Hockey and I have a stable job in my dad's insurance company.
But....I am lost in life and lost in love.
My long-term girlfriend Liz decided that we had no future and cut me out of her life. She told me she will marry another man soon.
The emptiness in my life without Liz left a gaping hole in my heart and soul. When you have been together with a partner for so long you grown into 1 person. I knew every corner of her body and mind.
Could my life get any worse?
Unfortunately, the answer to that question is yes.
My story of heartache, bruised and broken bones led me to a Paradise on earth.
A Paradise which cast a spell on me with its white beaches, blue ocean and above all loving and caring people.
My journey is still ongoing, but I have learned one thing: Sometimes blue skies is all we need.

Finding Christmas

My younger brother and sister cry for our parents on the other side of the world. The only consolation I have is "Christmas is coming." My younger sister asked me how we could celebrate Christmas with nothing. I had no answer except, "We'll find a way." *** 2020 brought many unexpected things. The unexpected bad and the unexpected good. With the year coming to a close, I want to dedicate this story to the front-liners, to those living away from family, to the Filipinos affected by the recent typhoons and flood, and to my grandparents who have survived through so much and thrived through it all.
