"The year is Early 2026 Tensions snapped across the world as the world's nuclear arsenals are launched. The U.S. government launched Operation Salvation opening old Cold war nuclear bunkers and the new top secret bunker system across the United States of America, The state of Alaska, the Philippines and Commonwealth of Puerto Rico which are high tech geothermal powered bunkers called the Ark System which are connected by underground tunnels. Once the bunkers are filled to maximum capacity they can hold they are closed and sealed shut to those on the surface. Those on the surface had to find shelter elsewhere making makeshift shelters in basements, storm shelters, underground parking garages or metro stations sealing them off best they can. The bombs hit hard devastating the surface and changing the landscape. Those still on the surface would die in the blasts or later from the radiation if they stayed close to the impact zones. In the following years Earth began to slowly recover with every mutating due to radiation changing everything. Those in the cold war bunkers when the supplies ran out began to return to the surface to see a different world working with the surface dwellers to try to create new civilizations dealing with not just regular human raiders but mutants and ghouls as well. Those in the arks was placed in cryobed pods to sleep awaiting for the time when they can rejoin a rebuilt world." End Introduction.

40 years ago, the world as we know it was destroyed by hordes of the undead. But the threat isn't gone. It has evolved. In the year 2027, the American Government buckled under the weight of millions of undead, whose inexorable push Westward drove away and killed every living thing until only nothingness was left. Many years later, most of the survivors (and their descendants) believe that the infected have been wiped off the face of the Earth. They are mistaken. What the scientists and researchers of the Republic of Sacramento eventually came to understand was that the virus had not been eradicated. Instead, it had changed, become something much worse. Its new form, the Vox Humana Virus, is so called because of its distinct evolutionary advantages over its predecessor: rather than kill the host, VHV in a sense disables the host-body's linkup with the brain, rendering it a puppet in service to the parasite. Because these new "Sleepers" do not shamble or groan or bear any characteristics that would easily distinguish them from a normal human being, they can now infect entire populations before anyone even knows they have arrived. Sacramento's response to this new threat was the institution of the Bureau of Public Health, an innocuously named super-agency whose staff are granted authority above and beyond any other citizen. The Agents, colloquially known as "Bag Men," are the gatekeepers, it is they who identify and exterminate Sleepers. Into this mess Troy Myers will step, one day. However, in 2040, he finds himself in the badlands bordering the cities of the new Tri-Texan Confederacy, looking for something, maybe a place to call home. Maybe, inside all this death, there will be a chance for peace. In the meantime, the kill count racks up and up. If Troy wants to live, he'll have to pay for his time with bullets. The Bag Men series is written by Silas Jackson and J.R. Traas. Find us: https://www.facebook.com/SACBPH https://twitter.com/wordofmypeople
