One Direction's Badass Mate

Dani's never won a popularity contest.

In fact, Dani thinks the only contest she's ever won was in unpopularity, actually, and she's more than happy to keep it that way.

All anyone ever talks about at her age is 'mate' this and 'mate' that. Not that she can blame them, necessarily. In a world where humans are mostly regarded as pests at best and prey at worst, their saving grace is the one being fate has chosen specifically as theirs for a lifetime. Not only do you find the love of your life, predestined and created just for you, but your future is secure: you have the incredible privilege of having your loved one turn you. Not a human? Not a problem.

With a few catches, of course. One of which being that a human's chances of being some creatures mate is slim to none. Most will live their lives under the crushing boot of servitude.

Dani is tired of this oppressive system. She's done being at the bottom of the food chain, she's done letting someone, or something, else control her, and she's just joined an underground rebellion in the making.

So imagine her surprise when the very same day, the world's new kings all announce that she is their fated queen. Obviously, this would cause some freaking issues.

Or maybe, just maybe, she can use this once in a lifetime opportunity to tear it all down from the inside.
