When a girl's father dies on the battlefield, she has to go and fulfill the rest of her family's debt, but that raises the question: why does her family even have a debt? As she uncovers secrets about her past with the help of a rebellious--and slightly dyslexic--prince, she ends up digging too deep into secrets she can't even fathom. Her kingdom needs saving; it won't last much longer on its own, but with the king breathing down Manon's neck, will she even be able to help?

Autumn thought she was just a tailor's daughter-until a hidden trail of letters led her to the royal palace and the truth she was never meant to uncover. The king, she believes, is her father. But before she can confront him, he's found murdered-and she's caught with the blood on her hands. Thrown into the depths of the castle dungeon, Autumn has no allies, no voice, and no proof of her innocence. But when a quiet young guard begins to question the story, and a mysterious note slips into her cell, Autumn realizes she isn't as alone as she thought. As whispers of betrayal echo through the court and the kingdom teeters on the edge of chaos, Autumn must untangle a web of lies, bloodlines, and dangerous truths. And with every stolen glance and guarded word, the line between duty and desire begins to blur. Someone killed the king. Someone wants her dead. And someone is falling for the girl who wasn't meant to exist.
