The story follows 23-year-old Janisse "Kissie" Love Sauniere - an aspiring guitarist and recovering addict forced into sobriety by her older sister, Ada. After a violent confrontation with a long-time rival, Kissie finds herself haunted by something far worse than guilt. Visions consume her nights; whispers follow her days. A godlike presence with a knack for misanthropy has marked her, and it wants her soul.

Now, Kissie has two choices: surrender, or die stubborn.

And the stubborn don't die easy.
