December is supposed to be gentle. With twinkling lights, quiet, silent nights, hot cocoa, soft hummed melodies over the radio and through the quiet town of Raylynn Michigan. But Jade Rivers has entered the month in exhaustion. Finals, essays, holiday reminds, a family she feels like an outsider with and a professor whose distant gaze feels like another reason to shrink and hide. She swears her professor doesn't like her, swears the silence is intentional with few moments here and there that make her question everything against that.
