Kavya froze, fear flickering in her eyes. Her throat went dry, words refusing to come out.

"Chup... ekdam chup!" he barked, his voice echoing off the walls.
Kavya flinched, her whole body trembling; she had never seen him this angry before.
"Tum Aarohi ki jagah kabhi nahi le sakti... samjhi?" His words were like shards of glass, cold and merciless.
He released her roughly and walked away. Kavya stumbled back, her breath shaky, her heart aching-but she steadied herself, holding her shattered emotions together with trembling hands.
