Yelena finds a kid on the first Thunderbolts mission after the events of Thunderbolts*. Grieving the loss of her sister, Natasha, she takes the child in, giving her the chance to be a sister again. Except this time, she needs to be the responsible one. The older sister. But despite all of the Red Room training that Yelena received, she had not learned responsibility. She was not good at caring for others. At trying to be the person that others could lean on. Yelena was inexperienced in the art of parenting/being a sister, but she knew a few things. She must clothe, feed, and shelter the child. Make sure they get to places on time. And she must be there. Even when it was hard. Even when she thought she couldn't do it. Because she had someone to live for now.

The Red Room. Black Widows. Little Girls. Many girls have walked through come and gone through these walls. 1 in 20 survive. Maybe. They went from psycologically controling these girls, to full on mind controlling them. Training them to be assassians for one person to be in 'control' of the world. They take their childhoods from them, they take their emotions, and most importantly they take their free will. Natasha Romanoff got out. She became an Avenger. She became more then the assassian they made her. Never looking back. At least not after she thought she destroyed the Red Room. But she didn't really destroy it. And when she left, she left her two "sisters" behind. "Twins". When they were younger, they were all part of a "family". Undercover, as the two older agents with them were there to steal something. The mission lasted 3 years. Natasha knew it was fake. But the 6 year old Yelena Belova and Olesya Aleksandrovna, they didn't know. So they got thrown into the Red Room. Not a clue in the world as to what was going on. "Mother" probably dead from a gunshot wound. "Father" watching as they were taken away. "Older Sister" trying to save them, but failing in the end. So they spent the next 21 years, mind controlled. Forced to be assassians. No freewill. That is, until an older widow, cracks the serum. Finds a way to get the girls their minds back. You volunteered, and well, Stark didn't put up much of a protest, as in his mind, it worked for Steve it should for you too. And so it did. You joined Steve, fighting alongside each other, and both becoming Avengers. You were both Lucky, you weren't taken by the Blip, others not so, including Bucky, both of your closest friend, you would however say you were slightly closer, after a few nights spent together, of which if Steve knew, would probably kill him. All of your private life is always kept that way, private, he's overly protective, and you guess, what Steve doesn't know, wont hurt him. But something unexpected happens and you're away from Steve for the first time in years.
