In a land of sentient nature and dragon roars echoing across the sky, the kingdom Esari is at war.
Prince Sage, a naturavis who can speak to plants, is second in line to the throne, but when an accident sends his elder brother and his dragon falling to their deaths, Sage has no choice but to accept the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. Between forced betrothals, ceaseless attempts at forging peace between rival kingdoms, and a deeper conspiracy lurking in the cracks of Esari, Sage is struggling to live up to his brother's title whilst grappling with an undeniable yet hopeless attraction towards the dragon-riding soldier Everett.
Everett has been close friends with Sage and his elder brother Eris since they were children. But the tragedy of Eris' loss strikes the Esarian kingdom hard, and when Sage can only find peace in Everett's company, the soldier cannot deny his own attraction for the prince.
Duty and honour are pulling Sage and Everett in different directions, and their bond isn't meant to last. The brightest flames burn the fastest, and the tallest trees fall the furthest. And yet, as wild dragons start to go missing and an unnatural death spreads through the forest, Sage isn't sure who else he can trust.
